MEET WANDY, NATASHA & MARISSA
Wandy
On October 2007, my sister showed me the video of Miles, because she wanted my niece, then five months old, to learn the ISR technique. When I found out that ISR didn't have any Instructors in Puerto Rico, I decided to contact ISR to learn more about this program that taught babies to survive. After talking with the ISR Team and seeing their dedication to fulfill their mission of Not One More Child Drowns, my decision was made! I wanted to accomplish that same mission on my island, Puerto Rico.
In January 2008, I went to Miami for six weeks to take part in the training course to become a certified ISR Instructor. There were many hours spent in the pool, as well on academics, but my passion for ISR only grew and I enjoyed every second. It goes without saying that my niece, Beatriz, was my first student when I began teaching in Puerto Rico in March. From that moment, I have not stopped teaching children the ISR Self-Rescue® technique, so if they find themselves alone in the water, they know how to respond in order to save themselves. In that same time, I have taught them how to swim and float in order to also be able to enjoy the water safely.
I can honestly say that I love my job and what it means. I want to reach the next student before he/she reaches the water alone. I want to fulfill my mission, the one I promised when I decided to become an ISR Instructor, that not one more child drowns, and no parent has to go through the pain of losing a child. On this website, you can find information about the ISR program, plus photos, videos and articles about ISR. However, I am at your service if you need additional information, or if you have any questions.

While living in Puerto Rico, I brought my boys to Wandy for lessons and was impressed with ISR's philosophy, method of teaching, and safety protocols. As an Early Childhood Educator and mom of three, I felt ISR was the best choice for my family and felt grateful for such an amazing experience. The lessons not only taught my children how to swim, but also provided so much more. They learned how to float and behave safely while they were in the water. While learning proper aquatic skills, they gained confidence and had lots of fun!
I moved with my family to Weston in 2016. Since then, I have continued my career as an elementary teacher, but I also decided that becoming an ISR Instructor would be the best way to continue my professional interests and personal passions. I love working with children and to be able to instill in them the self-confidence they need to learn how to swim, float, and be safe in the water. It is a privilege to share with the community a resource that helps save lives. I am very grateful that as an ISR Instructor, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know my community and make a difference in many children’s lives.

As a new mom of twins (a boy and a girl), when they were only 1yr old, I decided to act in regards to their safety instead of constantly worrying. Living in a house with a pool, I wanted them to have the tools to survive in any given situation around water. That’s when I decided to enroll them in ISR Self Rescue lessons for the first time.
A few years later we decided to move to Weston, Florida, because of my husband’s work. After 18 years in Business/Marketing, I was excited to move and start a new chapter in my life. I seized the opportunity to challenge myself to do something totally different and impact other people’s lives in a positive manner. That’s when I decided to pursue a career in ISR, went through their extensive training, and got certified as an Instructor
This experience has been life changing for me. Witnessing the progress of infants and children that at first arrive with lots of insecurities and sometimes even fear of water, and graduate after a few weeks with so much confidence, is totally amazing. In addition, having parents talk to us about the positive changes in other areas of their development, that they feel come as a result of the ISR lessons, really make us, the instructors, very proud of our work. I am confident that you won’t regret enrolling your young one in ISR lessons. Besides my kids, this is my next passion, and I will carry on the ISR mission with every child, as if they were mine. That’s my commitment to each parent and the whole ISR community.
In addition to English, we also speak Spanish, so feel free to contact us in any of these two languages. We hope to see you soon at the pool and have the pleasure to teach your child ISR Self-Rescue® skills.
Sincerely,
Wandy, Natasha and Marissa
